From Fizzle Promotions' Quarterly Concern at the Trunkspace in Phoenix. I have brought a 50mm as my only lens to this venue on numerous occasions, and it gets increasingly difficult to get new images out of it, but it keeps me on my toes.

I do not generally like clicking while people are singing but sometimes they sing loud enough for it to blend in.

Concert photos are difficult for me to edit because I feel like the light's not mine, so I am pretty hard on myself. I mostly posted that last shot because it's the lead singer of my favorite band, not because it's a good photo that shows off my lighting ability. We explored Austin for a little while, got frustrated when we couldn't find our way around, and ended up meeting a great, hospitable Austin tour guide. This is at Nuno's downtown that night.

Probably the best blues guitar player I have ever seen.

This guy walked in to the Frontier, I was editing photos from a shoot at another dealership, he had a boombox with him, and was holding out his hand as if to bless everyone, and walking very slowly. Somebody behind me said, "he's got his own theme music" and I looked up and decided to take a photograph.

The levels aren't right and there is some flare (I held the lens a couple of inches in front of my camera to get the minimum focusing distance closer, and it was bright and sunny out) but I like this one anyways.

I read somewhere that good composition is like pornography, difficult to describe, but you know it when you see it.

I'm leaving for my big trip on Sunday or on Monday. Four months, across the country.

I love the mood in the second one. It's at the Stinking Rose in North Beach, the Italian portion of San Francisco. The water jug in the foreground is at first a major distraction, but I like what it says about things getting in the way sometimes. It wouldn't be a photo without the waiter in the background.

So I shot a wedding once in the Chino Valley area. I got a call the next day. One of the kids (maybe 16 years old) that had been invited to the wedding had been involved in an accident and had died later that night. "Do you have any photos of him?" I did. Just one. Not all that flattering, but a decent shot of him helping to put up a temporary canopy structure to cover the reception area. I hope they liked it. I wish I had a better one, but I am glad I hadn't edited it out of my cut yet.

And that is why archiving and picking and deleting photos makes me nervous.
